As summer turns to autumn, I feel like a squirrel storing up fruit and making provisions for a long winter. In my paintings I store the sun’s energy so that it will shine off my paintings in winter. Sunflowers are also a symbol of the sun. I had no intention of painting them. I just let myself feel and let the feeling guide me.
